At what age are you too old for new ink?

At what age are you too old for new ink? Molly wrote that a man once commented to her when she was younger that a tattoo on a woman was like a bumper sticker on a mercedes. That got me thinking about the unfortunate attitude that tats cheapen a woman. So I ask, at what age does new ink on an old palette lose its appeal and is seen as not just a bumper sticker on a mercedes, but age-inappropriate. Does it apply to men too?

I guess it only really should matter to you if you want to date the guy who made the comment about bumper stickers and Mercedes. He probably would say a woman with a few wrinkles is like a Mercedes with dings. Not MY type of man. ick.

You're right. Thanks, I needed that. I got my first tat about ten years ago and was so proud of it. I was at the gym and this guy next to me asked me "what does it mean?" I really didn't feel like gettin into it, but was polite. He said that it was cool except what was I gonna do when I got older and it started to droop.

I would have said, "My "drooping" tat will be more appealing then his drooping scrotum with age." Things droop, big deal! As long as they ain't drooping now.......enjoy it! (of course I'm very sassy!)

When you feel that your liver spotted skin still looks better than a tattoo...............you're not only too old for a tattoo, you're just too old! Face it, no one's gonna look a tattoo more than it's owner. So it's stupid for someone to get a tattoo for anyone but themselves; to better express who they are. Like me, I'm a closet homosexual, so I like lots of pink and purple in my tats. Man, and the chicks really dig it! Maybe I'll just be straight after all. The gay guys don't seem to like tattoos very much. TCE
