tattooing toenail bed

5 messages · last activity 9/18/2014

I had to have my toenail removed due to fungus. The doctor burned the nail bed so that no new nail will ever grow back. I will just be left with a callus where the nail was. Is it possible to put a tattoo there that looks like a nail?
Did you ever receive an answer on this question? I think it would be a great thing if they could do that. I had both of mine removed, and have been looking for something to cover the nailbed ever since. If you hear of anyone that does this, please email me. Thanks, Donna
I’ve finally found a solution for missing toenails that worked for me – henna dye! I had the nails on my big toes removed 20 years ago and tried everything except a real tattoo (too scared), but recently tried a henna dye from earthhenna.com that works great. It’s actually a lip dye that comes in a tube in a variety of colors – use the fine tip side to draw the nail, and the blunt side to fill it in – paint the rest of your toes to match. Touch up once a day and your set! It stains your skin so there’s no danger of a fake nail flying off at the wrong time (been there!)
OMG! OMG! I can't believe that someone else has thought of the same thing. I have had my large toenails removed since my now daughter 27 years old was an infant. I had permanent eyeliner done for her wedding in 2010 and never gave it a thought about tattooing my unsightly toenails, until just a couple of weeks ago. Did this Google Search and just found this website. Awesome! I have even asked plastic surgeons (I'm a B. Cancer Survivor as well) if there is such an operation to mount a new toenail or tattoo or something. Then, I walked into a tattoo shop--and they said they could do it. I do not know how common it is, since most folks just tattoo art on their bodies. Well, I've just never done that, but only permanent eyeliner, cuz anything to get dolled up easier and quicker in the am for job and career. I do not like to spend time in front of the mirror. But my toes look ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! If more people knew of the possibilities and requested it creating the need and the revolution for cosmetic surgeries in the area of podiatry--then we wouldn't be embarrassed to wear pretty sandals that draw attention to our ugly toes. I like "bling" and color and want to wear pretty nail polishes, but how do you do that when artificial toe nails fall off and 4 out of 5 toes are polished. Please tattoo industry help us embarrassed people out. PLEASE!!!!
HI, I am very interested in finding out how the tattoo turned out, and what you ended up getting on your big toe and did it hurt? I broke my Big toe years ago and the Dr recommend to remover the nail permantly. well I wish I never agreed. I hate not having a toe nail, have tried stick on nails and also just painting nail polish on, but it just dosn't work. I have decided to get a tattoo on it, but not sure what to have.Regards Michelle
